CorelDRAW® Graphics Suite ONE DAY Course

Suzanne Smith - Authorised CorelDRAW trainer

Learn how to get the most from CorelDRAW when used in conjunction with Wilcom’s EmbroideryStudio. This course is tailored specifically for Wilcom users, and is designed to illustrate how the auto convert tools can help simplify the graphics process. This course will use CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2017… no matter which version of CorelDRAW you own, the basics remain the same. A certificate will be provided upon completion of this course.

Best practice using Corel PowerTRACE

Converting bitmaps to vector graphics is one of the most common day-to-day tasks in any design-oriented business. The quality of the source images provided by customers determines the final output quality and with poor-quality images, achieving a high-quality vector graphics can sometimes be quite challenging. During this session, we will take an in-depth look at PowerTRACE’s power-features and show the best practices for converting problematic images into vectors.

Manually redrawing designs

CorelDRAW possesses a comprehensive set of design tools. We will take a closer look at working with vectors, curves, and nodes and re-trace a design using various drawing tools. In addition, we will learn how to add cut lines to existing .cdr and .emb files.

Editing and prepping designs for embroidery

To make sure that our graphics are perfect for converting into embroideries, it is often useful to analyse the design on the graphics side, before converting over. In this part of the training we will be looking at simplifying our graphics, and working with layers, objects, and views. We will also learn how to take a multi-coloured design and create alternative colour sets using Color Harmonies and Color Styles.

Photo-editing and working with Effects

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite provides a powerful set of vector- and bitmap effects. We will learn basic photo-editing in Corel PHOTO-PAINT, including removing the background from images. In CorelDRAW, applying transparency, envelope and perspective effects can make a graphic, and embroidery, exciting and unexpected.

Features based around Sublimation and vinyl printing

Covered in this session: grouping colours, finding and replacing colours, creating custom colour palettes, layout, arranging and distributing objects, an in-depth look at the Knife tool and more.
