Use and Edit Any Artwork of your Choice

Choose and Scan Artworks and Images
Artworks can be inserted into Hatch by pasting, scanning or simply using the insert option. Use these artworks as digitizing templates or backdrops. Hatch Embroidery produces the best results when working with ‘clean images’ (cartoons with defined lines, blocks of color and minimal shading).

The most commonly used images are found in clipart libraries or created from scratch in a graphics package, however some scanned images can also be used. The latter may need to be dithered or anti-aliased in a graphics program- a method of editing images simulate missing colors and soften lines respectively.

Scan images with a TWAIN-compatible scanner. For the best results, the image needs to be scanned in properly, which means getting in all the essential shapes and colors and ensuring the resolution meets its relative requirement. It is also useful to keep a note of the color mode, depth and whether the image requires any sharpening.

Edit Artwork (+image quality)
Before Auto-Digitizing artwork, there is often a need to clean up the images to ensure the smoothest stitch process possible. The main aspects that require cleaning up will be eliminating unnecessary details and backgrounds, reducing the number of colors, sharpening outlines and cropping.

Hatch Embroidery allows you to edit your artwork right within the program with Paint, Corel X6 and above, or Paint Show Pro if you have them installed on your computer.  Choose between 10 cropping options including cropping in a: rectangle, circle, oval, star, heart and many more. You can also customize your own cropping marquee with the re-shape tool making the shapes unlimited!

Take Complete Control with Embroidery Layout Editor

Editing and customizing layouts are made really simple with Hatch Embroidery. Custom layouts can be created using your own inserted designs. Use individual designs or even merge multiple designs to create unique layouts.

Edit the design settings, re-shape, re-sequence and optimize your designs with and take complete control of layouts and backgrounds.

Take Things into Your Own Hands and Customize Layouts

Insert designs and Select, Handle and Arrange Objects
Create your own basic layout by inserting or combining your designs of choice. Hatch Embroidery allows you to insert one design into another and merge fabrics and design palettes. This gives you the choice of either adapting your inserted designs to your existing settings or keeping them at their original settings.

Stay in control of the way you choose to select objects. Select your objects with multiple tools; using the ‘Select’ or ‘Resequence’ tool or through any one of many keyboard shortcuts which allow you to select multiple objects, single objects, de-select objects and much more.

Handle objects by copy and pasting, grouping, duplicating and cloning, then arrange them with the spacing and alignment your require.

Create your own work area
Keep track of all your designs by setting up a virtual work area. This work area allows you to lay out multiple embroidery elements and designs in one space and arrange for these designs to be either viewed or printed onto a specific fabric.

Sort out your personal work area by defining it according to your intended fabric - using “
Define Work Area”. Create either rectangular or circular layouts to suit your design and then copy, rotate and place designs to form the layout you require.

Include specialized button holes and finalize with “print layout”
Hatch Embroidery allows you to experiment with creative features that can be used in everyday life - one of which is the ability to create customized button holes!

Create and insert preset button holes in your materials. Specify the size needed and merge them straight into a design. Select a button hole type then insert the angle, slit length, stitch spacing and number of button holes of choice and then drag your button hole into position.

Once you’re wrapping up your custom layouts, you have a number of different ways you can finalize your project. To finalize all layouts and objects, there is the option of print layouts, either taking a number of pages to print larger layouts or scaling them down to fit a specific page size.

Preview your layout first by selecting the “
Print Preview” icon. Then to print layouts, simply select the “Print Options” tool and follow the prompts. It's so easy!

Work with Larger Designs with Multi-Hooping

Frame larger designs with multiple hoops and split objects between hooping
Are you working with designs that are a little too large to fit into one hoop? Utilize the Multi-hoop functions to stitch out designs larger than a single hoop. Use multiple hoops to contain your design, then stitch out your designs consecutively, hoop by hoop.

Before stitching, place your hoops in interlocking placements so they cover your design and then rotate and adjust them to ensure everything fits. Also, use the “
Splitting Guide” tool when there is a need to split objects between hoops. Note: the splitting guide is necessary when fully hooped objects still appear in black.

Output and Print multi-hooped designs
Hatch Embroidery will save you time by ensuring you have all the options necessary to get the results you want. As mentioned above, if a design is too large the software will split it into sections. Each section (with its own hoop) can then be stitched separately. Hatch gives you multiple options to ensure that your final design is aligned properly.

Adding registration marks, saving multi-hooped designs and sending multi-hooped designs straight to machine are a number of features that can be utilized to
ensure proper alignment

Unlimited ways to Edit and Adjust Objects

Customize by transforming, reshaping and sequencing objects

Scale, rotate and skew objects according to your vision. Hatch Embroidery ensures that the stitch count also reflects these alterations so that the original stitch density is preserved.

For example, a design created for a t-shirt logo can be
re-purposed and adjusted to fit onto a cap. Then, reshape your designs using control points, or smooth them over. Hatch also allows you to adjust stitch angles using the “Re-shape Object” tool.

Sequence your objects to create patterns or organize them your way. Sequencing options include sequencing by: cut and paste or object and color. Following the sequencing, it is also possible to re-sequence by color.

Break apart (ungroup) objects and edit stitching and stitch patterns
Break apart design objects that cannot be ungrouped the normal way. Objects like applique' are compound objects that need to be broken apart to be edited. Using the “Break Apart” tool, you can separate your objects into their separate components. This tool functions similarly to the “upgroup” option however once the compounds have been separated they cannot be re-grouped as a compound object.

All stitched objects and designs can be edited by selecting, inserting or moving stitches. Edit singles, bundles or an entire range of stitches by simply selecting their needle points. Insert any stitches to fill in gaps and move stitches into new positions.

Optimize stitch process with “closest joins”
Let Hatch Embroidery do the hard work for you. To optimize the process of stitching out a design, the closest joins option will automatically calculate the closest join between objects to ensure the connectors remain short. By keeping these connectors short, the designs tend to stitch out more efficiently.  Hatch will prompt users on the closest joins each time and ensure that you’re always stitching at the optimum join.
