In case you aren’t aware, we’ve got some fantastically spooky free designs for you to download here- just in time for Halloween! These designs were kindly provided Oklahoma Embroidery Supply & Design (OESD), specifically for Wilcom. To find out a little bit about how they created their designs and for some more information on OESD, keep reading.
With over 40,000 designs in their inventory, OESD has been a leader in providing quality designs for over 25 years. The team at OESD are specialists in utilizing embroidery products to advance design process and stay up-to-date with new techniques in order to provide top-quality customer service. Motivated by customer satisfaction, OESD aims to maintain creative and practical excellence. All designs are first hand-sewn by the digitizers themselves, most of who have been with the company for over 15 years, and then evaluated through a comprehensive quality control process before release. OESD digitizers use Wilcom software for all their designs, the multiple tools and applications being a great support for the team in their pursuit of top quality designs.
The image above is available for download on Wilcom’s free downloads page. Tony from OESD has kindly provided an overview of how the design was created. Starting with a hard-copy, an artist will sketch the design. Then either they or a digitizer will pull threads for design and/or collection. The digitizer then plans what layers and paths to digitize first, here it moves from back to front. They then blend the appropriate thread shades in the design or change threads if the original colors don’t work. Finally, they angle the fills in order to produce a 3D look (horizontal fills sit back whereas vertical fills can appear raised).

Happy Halloween to all our readers and a big thanks to the OESD team for providing Wilcom with these designs!
